This is a simple art journal page using Tim Holtz paper dolls as the focus points. It is a very simple mixed media project using gouache paints as the background.
I have many scraps and I wanted to slowly use them up somehow. I saw many tutorials online where people create a mosaic background with them. I wanted it a bit textured and a little raised in some spots. Therefore, I glued a lot of layers on some spots and one layer only on another. I used Golden Gel Medium and old scraps cut out into little squares and rectangles. I used a 3×3 inch wood canvas, a wood frame and wooden butterflies that I painted black and then used Faber Castel Gelatos in gold color to give it a wood-like look.
I have a huge stack of 12 ” x 12″ scrapbook paper pads and I wanted to find ways to use them. So I came across a tutorial for creating mini book albums and they look really nice that I wanted to share how easy it is. I suggest making those in the double sided paper, but if you have single sided paper, just make sure you decorate each page with more scrapbook paper. It’s a great way to use up your scraps. I didn’t make a video, but I took pictures of every step to make this mini book album.
