I will say this with great enthusiasm, I LOVE gouache watercolour paint. I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos of artists using them, and what struck me that one YouTuber said they dried out matte and can very reactivate with water, which was way better than Acrylic paints that I am not too fond of. So I used 55% off coupon at Michaels and got the Reeves brand to try them out. I was a bit wary because they looked like Acrylics paints, but then after trying them out and using little or no water has made me amazed.
I wanted to use my collection of glass beads and a coaster for my desk. I love handmade things on my desk and I wanted to add to my repertoire of creative things. So I had burlap sheets and lots of cardboard pieces. I hope you like it. I am not creative with patterns and it was difficult to make sure they stay in their place on the simple design. I added a brown ribbon at the end to cover the edges. I think it looks great and clean.
In the second half of the Artist Loft watercolour paper I drew a simple drawing of a cat and a gift box. (Click for first half.) However, I wanted the lines to be black and prominent. Embossing the lines worked great, especially since it resists watercolours and I didn’t have to worry about the lines fading. I just had to stay between them. I wish I spent more time though making the lines more straight, but I guess I was going for rough textured edges.
